Columbia, Tennessee is a place that's growing just outside of Franklin and Nashville. It is known as Mule Town. It is a true southern small town with a trendy town square and a vibrant main street. It is also known, in addition to Mule Town, as the antebellum home capital of Tennessee.
It has more antebellum homes than any other county. It's also a top ten best small town, according to Southern Living, and it ranks in the top 10 of the country's best small towns by Country Living magazine.

If you're looking for a place that is close to some big cities but is not a big city itself, that has lots of family-friendly events, shopping, many unique dining options, and a lot of culture and arts going on, Columbia, Tennessee could be for you.
It is anchored by its downtown. The courthouse is the centerpiece of the downtown square. Columbia is historic, it is quaint, but it also is filled and surrounded by modern and trendy shops, multiple restaurants, and a diversity of small, locally owned businesses with unique offerings. It is an amazing place with all types of activities going on throughout the year.
If you're thinking about living there, the population is about 42,000 or so and growing. There's a lot of housing diversity. You can find townhomes, single-family homes, homes with lots of acreages, homes with bigger than usual yards, and new subdivisions going in with some of the top builders in the country.
There is a lot of new construction happening if you want a newer home. There are also a lot of older homes there that have been around and renovated and updated.
COLUMBIA, TN REAL ESTATE
As of the middle of 2022, the median sales price for a single-family home in Columbia is $330,000. We've seen about a 25% increase in the last year.
For townhomes, the median sales price is about $258,000. We've seen about a 17% increase. And as far as condos go, the median price is about $262,000 and we've seen a 25% increase. For a manufactured home, the median sales price is about $225,000 and we've seen about a 28.5% increase in the last year.
For single-family homes, the median days on market is 4 days, so things are moving quickly. For townhomes, the median number of days on market is about 7 days. So if you're looking at doing something in real estate in Columbia, like most of Middle Tennessee right now, things are moving pretty quickly.
THINGS TO DO IN COLUMBIA, TN
There is a Columbia Cultural Trail where you can do a self-guided walking tour of downtown Columbia and the Columbia Arts District. The Columbia Arts District is right off of the downtown square.
There are all kinds of artists and artisans that get together to create a contemporary creative culture, and there are all kinds of places to shop, coworkers, and co-work options in one building downtown.
Rowan Company is a very unique building that has a lot of various businesses that you may want to check out. There is a historical home - the President James K. Polk Home and Museum - that is a big tourist attraction that you can tour right off the square.
The downtown square actually consists of four blocks that were built on the south bank of the Duck River, and if history is your thing, there's just so much to see. As far as transportation goes, there is a Maury County Regional Airport, and there's also a Mule Town Trolley that you can take to get around the area.
